A weekend with out AFL.What a shame. Some will say, about bloody time. But not me.
Hard to work out what to say but I have a story for you about my younger days on the Goldfields.
As a young kid around six or seven,we used to have boondy fights. You know, throwing rocks at each other. Making out we disliked each other sort of thing. We all went to the same school or lived in the same area, way out back of Boulder. All went to the great South Boulder primary school. Loved it.
Anyway, this particular day we decided to have target practice, tossing boondies at whet ever some one nominated. I didn't have a bad arm back then. Anyway some one decided to chuck our rocks at a break glass alarm for the fire brigade. You know the ones, red ...

For me, another season done and dusted. Coming into the season I tipped we would finish some where between 8 and 12. Missed by a couple, finishing in 14th spot.
Disappointed!!!! yeah, but after the first two bad defeats, we went into rebuild mode. Sent a lot of the older players back to Peel and began a rebuild with less experienced players. Some who were recruited at the end of last season. Who could have expected Sean Darcy to have had such an impact. A big boy, who is just that, a boy. He battled manfully through all eight games. He more than held his own in all games. A player we must keep at the club.
We blooded Luke Ryan he played 11 games in his debut season and acquitted himself well as a solid back man. Another keeper....

Well here it is, the last round of 2017.
How quickly it has gone.
Seems like only last week we were getting excited about the start of the season.
But not we begin to get excited about the finals, regardless of whether your team is participating or not.
But our excitement, after this week, will be put on hold while we have a bye.
Why?? I find it an inconvenience.
It was one of the many things that handed the Bulldogs the premiership last year.
It still bemuses me the decision to have it.
But it has been an intriguing season.
A season that has had it all.
Close games, upsets, wipe out games .
Some out standing performances, some outstandingly stupid actions by players who were warned about certain on field issues.

Geez it has been cold.
No worse than that, it has been bloody cold.
Some might say, colder than a Mother in laws kiss.
I would never say that, as I had a real good relation ship with my Ma in law.
A beautiful lady she was.
But just wait until tomorrow night,Friday, and some of the games this weekend.
It will warm the cockles of your heart, and any where else that needs warming.
Crows V Swans.
At the moment, two of the better sides in the comp
Then the Doggies at nine and Port at six.
Another warmer upperer.
Then two wanna be's.Neeshies V Toasters.
Any part of you not warmed by this stage will be heated up for sure.
Hotter than a tater just outta the oven.
Some others may be just a bit cooler than those, but still some ...

Gees the list of retirees is getting longer, Stevie J the least of a large number leaving our great game.
All those that are leaving have been great ambassadors for our game.
We should well and truly salute them for their contribution.
What does concern me a bit is the quality of commentators, boundary riders, special comments men, so called experts, that we are getting.
So much BS being bandies about, yards gained yard lost.
Floods, webs, paddocks, etc etc etc.
We talk about leaving the game alone to the leaders of our game, you know the AFL etc.
But we make no loud noise about how we have to listen to or watch this great game.
Here in WA we have been blessed over the years with some of the great callers of the game.

MMM Friday, Friday, Friday.
All that once again means football.
Lots of news, from the footy world.
The Earth almost stopped spinning when the MRP decided to do their job correctly, and heaven forbid, they suspended a Brownlow medal favourite Patrick Dangerfield.
The bookies are laughing their proverbial arses off on that one.
Money makes the world go round.
Money in the pocket.
Those moaning are maybe talking through their hip pocket!!
Imagine this week during the Tiggers V Hawks clash, that the Dashing Dusty Martin should go the don't argue and miss, clipping a full on bunch of fives into a Hawk players mouth!!!
The bookies would be punting like mad to get him suspended.
But how would the AFL respond!!!!!!
