What a week. The talk of the townof course has been the sacking of Ross Lyon from the Fremantle Football Club. Also the resignation!!! sacking !! from the club as well.Decision that have pleased some, but angered others.I will leave it up to those that read this what they think.Me , I have my own thoughts, but wont bore you with them.
Cricket.... a first day disaster for the Aussies. All out for for 179.Only a couple,Warner and Labuschange getting going.Fragile is not really a way of describing the Aussie batting line up, but struggle to find another.
The Archer has certainly torn our batting to pieces .Some pace the boy has.
The last round before the bye and then finals.Still placings in the eight to be finalised, so a few games this week will decide that.Should be some good footy, none better than the Tigers and Lions.Yet another real finals game.If this one turns out to be as agood as the games last week between the top four sides, then we are in for a delight.
Pies V Bombers.
The Pies had a huge win over the Crows last week.I am still not sure that the Pies have what it takes to go the full distance. But winning form is good form.Winning their last three.Still a few players to come back.
Bombers came to Optus with a plan last week and it worked.Running out winners over Fremantle. Not sure how you can lose all the important stats, but still win by five goals. But a win is a win.
Tipping the Pies here.
Swans V Saints.
The Swans have won only one of their last five games and that win was last week against the disappointing Dees.Talking point for the Swans will be the Buds 300th game.It has been a while coming, due to injury, but it is here on Saturday.
Saints.Have won three of their last five and losing last week to the Blues.A side that when in form can cause many problems for all teams.
Only because of Buds 300 and McVeigh retiring,I am tipping the Swans.
Roos V Distraught Dees.
How can you tell just what the Roos are going to dish up.Smashed one week, win the next.
Dees.... say no more.
Cats V Blues.
The Ctas lost the game they had wrapped up and had the bow tied to it.But some how they blew it.did they think it was over with ten minutes to go!! Lost top spot to the Lions.
Blues beat the Saints last week and continue to improve under Teague. Have won three of their last five.I am sure they will look for a big season next year.
Have to pick the Cats here.
Suns V Giants.
Suns total waste of a season for them. They have gone nowhere, and look like a long way from catching a train, but car, or plane to anywhere.
Giants , as I have said many time broken by injury, but their last two weeks have been abysmal.A total capitulation to the Doggies last week after being frozen by the snow the week before.
Tossed the coin and it came up the Giants way.
Eagles V Hawks.
The Eagles after a quick start succumbed tot he pressure from the Tigers in a great game of football.A game fitting of a final. They are always hard to beat at Optus.
Hawks, belted the Suns last week, with the highlight being Roughy kicking six in his farewell game. The week before smashed the Giants as well.
Hard to go past the Eagles here.
Doggies V Crows.
Going country this week to finish their H&A season. They certainly touched up the Giants last week and when on song will touch up some teams int he finals.
Crows, have been a real disappointment all year.Maybe another coach with his head on the chopping block.Still in the running for eight spot, but hard to see them getting there.
Doggies for me.
Tigers V Lions.
The tussle of the big cats.A game which has the finals touch to it.Should be a very large crowd .
Tigers.Look like they are on the boil, or ready to go there.Have won their last nine I think. One of the flag favourites after an exciting win against the Eagles.
The Lions are sitting on top of the world right now and not looking out of place being there.A massive win last week against Geelong.A final ten minutes that was real finals football.Charlie Cameron kicking five, but the highlight was Lincoln McCarthy's mark and goal in the final seconds.A reject from the Cats. It must have hurt the Cats to see that happen.
Maybe a surprise, but I am tipping the Lions here.
Port V Dockers.
Port are still in the hunt for the finals spot in the eight, but like the Crows, hard to see them making a difference if they make it.But they have something to play for at least.Maybe another coach who will be looking for employment next season.
Dockers, after week that has involved the sacking of their coach, just what will the Dockers dish up!!! It is any ones guess. All the previous sides that sacked their coach have turned disaster into fairy tales, but can it happen for Freo.
I am going to go with my heart here, without any real rhyme nor reason, Fremantle.
Well folks that is it for 2019s H&A season.
Again, stay warm and dry over the weekend.
To all the tipsters good luck.May your team win, as long as it isn't the other mob.
