Well after much anticipation, week two is done and dusted. And a couple of unexpected results.
Another knee jerk reaction by the AFL with the rule change to the Burgoyne sling.Regardless, it should have been at least a one week suspension.
The QLD hub goes into full swing this week.both Adelaide teams on the GC for a few weeks.
Nothing much other than footy to talk about before my tips .. so here goes.
Four and a half last week.I need to improve.
Thursday night.
Richmond V Hawks.
The Tigers took part in without doubt the worst game of the round last week.Even supporters of both sides would have been reluctant to own that game. The less said about it the better.
Hawthorn, belted by the Cats at Alphabet Park, were not much better than the two previous named teams.
Tigers still in the comfort of home should win this one.
Friday night.
Bulldogs V Giants.
The Bulldogs finished up getting pummelled by the Saints.I thought th game prior to half time had the makings of the best game of the round, but the Saints tore the Doggies apart. The Doggies are a worry I reckon.
The Giants... well, at home put up an insipid performance against the Roos.A performance that is unlike them on their own dung hill.I think we can expect a much improved performance from them this week.
Giants for me.
Saturday.
Roos V Swans.
The Roos were very much a surprise packet last weekend beating the Giants.I am not sure whether they had a day out,or are a different team from last year.I am a bit bemused by them and have no idea about how they will go.
The Swans couldn't beat the Bombers on their home deck.A bit like the Giants.Another team that I think we will have to wait a few weeks to see what they will give tot he competitions. But they are a side that is hard to write off.
Going for the Roos.
Collingwood V Saints.
Pies as stated before... see Richmond. In a shocker they need to find something better than what they dished up last week.
The Saints were in very good form last week and played hard running flowing football.Maybe going to surprise a few this year. They have recruited well.
On form, you would have to go for the Saints, but I am tipping the Pies to rebound... and rebound very well.Collingwood.
Lions V Eagles.
The Lions had a win over Fremantle last week but got the stutters a few times during the game.Charlie Cameron had the HArley revved up early in the game. They once again look a good side and will win more than they lose I feel.
The Eagles... well what can be said. They were very very insipid.Something that I am sure no one could see coming.A tram of much talent, but did they get a bit ahead of themselves!!I am sure they will be much more switched on than last week.
But I have a feeling that the Lions will inflict a further loss to the Eagles.Lions for me.
Cats V Carlton.
Geelong took the Hawks to the cleaners last week in a very clinical way. They looked a class above the losers.
Carlton.. gave Melbourne a big start last week, but flew home.... just too late. They had several chances to get the four points, but almost like it has been scripted before, they couldn't get the points.
Geelong by some distance at home.
Sunday.
Suns V Crows.
The Suns stunned the Eagles with a great brand of football that left the eagles floundering. It seems that the club are happy with Stewie Dew offering him a long term contract. They from time to time have showed so much , but have fallen back into bad ways.can this year be the year that they will shut the mouths of those who love to pick on them!!!
The Crows, had their feathers absolutely burnt by the Power in the Show Down. They showed very very little after the first quarter.A team almost in crisis I think.
Suns for me.
Essendon V Melbourne.
Essendon managed to hold on to beat the Swans, but neither side was totally impressive.Essendon like so many sides are a bit of an unknown.
Melbourne held on for a win last week, but again another team that could struggle.
Not sure why, but am tipping the Dees here.
Last but not the least.
Fremantle V Port.
Fremantle at home at Metricon Stadium.Yet another slow start cost the Dockers dealry last week. They held their own after the first quarter, but couldn't find that little extra. But against a fancied Lions unit, it was an OK performance.
Power, are a team on the rise.So many good young kids and enough experience to beat most sides. When on, they play very exciting football.Hard to tip against them in this one
Port for me.
Well that's it for round three.Good luck with your tips.
Have a great weekend.May your team win , as long as it isn't the other mob.
